Following robust diagnostic testing, targeted literacy interventions take place to support students whose reading ability and general literacy is such that they struggle to access the full curriculum offer.

The intervention packages we have available are usually targeted at KS3 students but bespoke programmes are delivered to KS4 students where appropriate.

Ruth Miskin Fresh Start phonics intervention programme for 1:1 intervention

Ruth Miskin Fresh Start phonics intervention programme for small group tuition

Hearts For Learning Fluency Project to help develop students fluency and
comprehension

Paired Reading: Depending on the level of need, this will either take place in two 15min

PM registration periods, or students will be taken out of a lesson for 20-30mins slots.

The aim of this programme is to further develop fluency and comprehension.
Apollo reading challenge: This intervention is aimed at students in KS3 with a reading
age of 14+ and encourages them to read books from a more challenging literary canon.
A programme of rewards is linked to this.
