Summer 2019 GCSE and GCE Certificates Update

All summer 2019 certificates are now available for collection.

Students who have left Archbishop Holgate’s School or Sixth Form should collect their certificates from Main School reception.  You will be asked to check and sign for your certificates before leaving with them.  If you are sending someone to collect them on your behalf, please ensure they have written permission from you to do so.  Certificates will be held in school for one year and we recommend that they are collected as soon as possible.

During term time reception is open 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

If you are currently in Year 12 at Sixth Form your certificates are available from Mrs Walton.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Tipping, Exams Officer.

Exam Contingency Day – Wednesday 24 June 2020

Although the summer 2020 exams may still seem a long way off, we wish to share some important information with you to avoid any possible issues in the summer. The summer written exam period will run from Monday 11 May to Thursday 18 June 2020.

However, for the summer 2020 exam series a contingency exam day has been arranged by the examination awarding bodies which all students need to be aware of. This contingency day for GCSE examinations has been put in place “in the event of widespread, sustained national or local disruption to examinations during the June 2020 examination series.”

The decision comes following the tragic events of previous summers, namely the Manchester attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire. The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) have decided that they need the option to postpone an exam (or exams) in the event of an incident and rearrange them for a later date to allow all students a fair and equal chance.

The date that has been set aside as the contingency day is Wednesday 24 June 2020. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam up until and including Wednesday 24 June 2020.

This decision is not a school/sixth form decision and applies to all candidates all over the country. Please can all students/parents/carers make a note of this date in the event that an awarding body needs to invoke its contingency plan.
